I am in love with this shirt. A few weeks ago, early on a Saturday morning I was scrolling through my phone aimlessly and quietly in bed, attempting not to disturb my partner. I was lured to a website of a poet I quite enjoy by the phrase “Flash Sale, $4 T-shirts!” When I was having some difficulty with the mobile site I decided I wanted to get up and get a proper look, and I fell in love with this shirt. And I thought to myself, I will buy that shirt for $4 even though it is a size too big and white. (I never wear white, and I don’t imagine it will be white for long due to my innate talent of spilling on myself.)

About a week later it came. I was wearing this shirt while riding the exercise bike in my living room listening to spoken work poetry on Poetry Button and feeling inspired.

I was inspired by the shirt saying “WRITE YOUR HEART IN” and Andrea Gibson, the poet from whom the shirt came. I had the chance to see this poet live years ago and I often pause to listen to Gibson’s poetry on youtube. I read it as well, but there is a special way words imprint when heard from the mouths of the those who wrote them.

Just enjoying the words of others, letting their poems, their stories, their words in. How important it is as…
