What poetry do you see?

Poetry in the way my body unravels on a yoga mat
the way body learns and remembers how to move
connect with the breath
always there
but poetry beckons attention

Poetry in the frantic fluttering wings of a hummingbird
so fast, often registers as a hum

Poetry in the chorus of breaks from the arriving train

Poetry in the kitten purr
just three minutes before the morning alarm

Poetry in a call with a friend that always picks up in the middle
no matter how long it’s been

Poetry in the hug that has been so long awaited

Poetry in the words of others
that strike a chord in your heart
bring tears to your eyes
remind you that you are alive
and we are all part of the same song

For harmony we need to come in at different pitches
bring our voices
our uniqueness
all of our us-ness
our right-now-ness of who we are
