Wedding Speech

When one of your best friends asks you to write something for her wedding it is intimidating; especially when you both are writers. She quickly changed it to asking me to speak at her wedding. I wrote draft after draft of what I wanted to say, but it was never quite right. And then several months ago a came across a poem by Neil Gaiman that said so many of the things that I wanted to say. I read it to her and her fiancé and yes, they wanted that poem read at their wedding. I bullet pointed the other parts of the speech I wanted to say, read the poem and ended with cheers to their love and their marriage. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough.
