New Mexico, Thank You

Thank you New Mexico for holding me. For holding my tears as they fell to your desert. For holding my cries, my joy, my laughter, my grief, my pain, my love…

Thank you for holding the pop of my hip that screamed out in pain to release the silence it had been keeping. The re-entering of my body into some of the crunchy places not visited in a while. The silent tears of frustration that come with the I can’t feeling of not immediately succeeding.

Thank you for holding my laughter when my face hit the yoga mat upon not quite getting a pose as intended.

Thank you for holding the remembering not to take myself too seriously.

Thank you for holding my bare feet as they walked through your arroyos, and up rocks exploring what is possible when we shed a layer of protection and truly feel.

Thank you for holding my enough-ness. I scream out into the desert, I AM ENOUGH! The mountain catches it and holds it for me. Will give it to a sweet bird to carry back and sing it to me when I forget. You are enough it will say to help me remember.

Thank you for holding my journey, my curiosity, my humanity, my memories, my creativity, my words, my voice…

Thank you for holding my story.
